About Our Team

Anthony Rodriguez, Lead Pastor

Anthony Rodriguez graduated from Montreat College and stayed in the area to continue serving Isight in its earliest stages, serving as a preacher and Vision Team member. He worked with teens in Asheville for two years before moving with his family to Cape Town, South Africa for a year. Upon returning from their year of missions abroad in 2009, Anthony resumed his seminary pursuits in earnest at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte while serving as a preacher and college ministry intern at Isight. Anthony completes his MA in Christian Thought in May of 2012 while assuming the responsibilities of Isight's lead pastor. Anthony serves Isight as a preacher and by leading the elder team. Anthony, with the elders, are responsible for discerning and communicating Isight's vision while caring for and equipping the people for the work of the Gospel in whatever context God calls them to.

Anthony married his best friend, Erin, in 2006, following his graduation from Montreat. Together they have two beautiful daughters, Ryann and Alethia. Erin is a woman of strength and passionate prayer, caring for moms and young women even as she leads her own two young children.

The Rodriguez family loves Isight and is thrilled to be in Black Mountain, continuing to invest in the community that has given so much to them.

Peter Councell, Worship Leader

The central, most important thing that defines Peter is his faith in Jesus Christ. Everything he does, or works hard to do, is driven by his trust in Him. Out of such faith, Peter believes that loving Jesus and loving others is all that matters. It's from this perspective that Peter pursues music so passionately, with attention to detail, performance, and production:

"Peter Councell, born and raised mostly in the mountains of western North Carolina, first began his official career as a musician behind the drum set at the age of fourteen with an Asheville-based Beatles tribute band known as Yesterday's Tomorrow. Peter currently has twelve-years experience behind the drum set. He studied under the direction of such professional drummers as Sammy Wolfe, Paul Babelay, John Harwood, and Jeff Sipe. Peter also received a B.A. in Music Business and a concentration in Piano Performance from Montreat College in 2009. He has worked with such artists as Zach Blew, Kellin Watson, NELKEN, Undone, Morning Breath, Darien Crossley, Anna Rose Beck, and Worldline. He has performed alongside such artists/bands as Birdie Busch, Daniel Ellsworth, and Horse In The Sea. Currently, Peter plays in Christian alternative rock band, The Weller Band, and his jazz fusion project, Mr. PC. He also currently serves as the instructor of Applied Percussion at Montreat College, and as IT Admin and Director of Social Media for Oodles World, LLC." - www.petercouncelldrums.com

Elodie Covert, Director of Children's Ministry

Elodie Covert is Isight's Children's Ministry Director.  She has two young children of her own, Abigail and Micah, and has extensive experience with children, having served a number of years with her husband Jason as houseparents at the Black Mountain Home for Children.

Elodie has a passion for working with children and it has shown in the influence she has had on our children's ministry.  Children's ministry is very important to the life of a church; her hope, our hope, is that everyone will take some role in ministering to and raising our kids in "the Faith, given once for all to the saints."  Elodie is excited to teach the children of Isight the good news about Jesus and help the families of Isight raise children who enjoy reading God's word and talking to their heavenly father.
